Two Victims Revealed in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Persist in Hunt for Killer.

Two students who lost their lives in the recent violent attack in Providence were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, the group said. The White House press secretary also expressed condolences on social media, remarking: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were injured in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our city”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the engineering building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a authority informed the media outlet.

Officers that raided the hotel seized two handguns and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was arrested, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the organization. “Ella was known for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and fellow classmates,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to his relatives, loved ones, and peers and grieve for of his promising future.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic higher education institution with about thousands of bachelor's and postgraduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 mass shootings reported in the US so far in the current year, according to statistics.
