Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
