'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from outside the box, and the defender promptly hammered in the rebound before racing off toward the home end to mark the goal, with fans swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory completed an unbelievable turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result secured a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in south Wales. At Orient he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for his team and nation, excelling for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the guys but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and on the road. Franco is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
