Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
