England's Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's most recent Test for New Zealand was against the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former New Zealand pace bowler is expected to be available for the opening match because of his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a position as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Speaking as England's team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was announced, he stated of his participation: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee said.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [England's] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, before the English team head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
