In a unexpected partnership that breaks conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Disclosed

According to the formal release, "An unusual meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine group.

The adventure focuses on "bizarre tests and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Bonus Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an special katana in addition to multiple objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This update also introduces the game's third complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Collaborations

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
