Arsenal's manager feels assured that his side can persist in handling with player absences after confirming that attacker Kai Havertz remains out for a few more weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for Havertz

Havertz has been sidelined for months due to knee surgery. Hoped to be available at the start of this month, the manager stated the player faced a hurdle when stepping up his rehabilitation and could not progress “to the next level.”

“Our experience helped us build a squad that is far more dependable and has greater depth,” stated the manager.

Tactical Decisions for Brentford Clash

This news leaves a dilemma for Wednesday’s home game against Brentford. A decision is required between persisting with Mikel Merino, who found the net as a makeshift striker last weekend, or recalling Viktor Gyökeres, who came back after a fitness issue as a substitute. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus is also an option post-recovery.

Defensive Concerns Remain

Further fitness issues affect defender William Saliba and attacker Leandro Trossard, who were absent for the weekend encounter. Consequently, recent arrivals Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are likely to start again in the heart of the defence for the table-toppers.

Arteta feels the £250m spend on new players ahead of this season has resulted in a much stronger position to navigate such absences.

Greater Options Key to Premier League Pursuit

Questioned if more options was aiding their championship push, Arteta was emphatic. “Yes, since the current term has seen more issues in the attacking line, and now the problems with the backline,” he continued.

“History has shown us that we must deploy players in alternative spots, and they must be capable to perform various functions if we are to fight at this level. And the case of Mikel is probably the prime illustration.”

Addressing the delay previously mentioned by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta offered additional context. “He was doing everything. He failed to advance to the subsequent stage and now the signs are like we have overcome that hurdle.”

Arteta expressed his eagerness to welcome him back. “Everyone is eager to have him. Truly, Havertz is someone that, for me, I love so much for the qualities he offers to the team, but his character, his personality. I see him suffer on the sidelines.”

“His playing record is exceptional, he's usually fit, and I am eagerly awaiting to get him back involved playing because I think it’s going to be a massive boost.”
